Welcome to Socioo! We are a community marketplace app that connects neighbours within residential societies to buy and sell items locally. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights — in plain, simple language.

We have no interest in selling your data or bombarding you with ads. We just want your old sofa to find a new home two blocks away. 🛋️

1. Who We Are

Socioo is operated by Socioo (Clevmind Technologies), a technology platform built for residential communities in India. Our app is available on Android (and soon iOS).

2. Information We Collect

We only collect what we need. Nothing more.

2.1 Information You Give Us

Full name and email address (via Google Sign-In)
Profile photo (from your Google account)
Your location — country, state, city, area, and society/apartment complex
Ad listings you post — title, description, price, condition, photos
Messages you send to buyers or sellers through the in-app chat
Contact phone number (optional, only if you choose to add it to an ad)

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically

Device type and operating system (Android/iOS)
App version
Basic usage logs — pages visited, errors encountered
IP address (for security and abuse prevention)

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not track your precise GPS location in real-time
We do not read your contacts, SMS, or call logs
We do not access your camera or microphone without explicit action
We do not collect payment or financial information — all deals are done in person
We do not collect biometric data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for one simple purpose: to make Socioo work for you.

To create and maintain your account
To show you ads from your neighbourhood and society
To let buyers and sellers chat securely within the app
To filter ads by your location (city, area, society)
To send you notifications about your listings and messages
To review and approve ads before they go live (admin moderation)
To detect fraud, spam, and misuse
To improve the app based on how it is used

We do NOT use your data for targeted advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties. Ever.

4. Google Sign-In

We use Google OAuth for authentication. When you sign in with Google:

We receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google
We do NOT receive your Google password
We do NOT access your Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google services
Your Google account data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy in addition to ours

You can revoke Socioo’s access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account settings → Security → Third-party apps with account access.

5. Location Data

Location is at the heart of what Socioo does — connecting you to your community. Here is exactly how we handle it:

We ask you to manually set your city, area, and society when you first log in
We do NOT use GPS or track your real-time location
Your location (city, area, society) is stored on our server and used to filter relevant ads for you
Your society name may appear on your ads so local buyers know where to collect items
You can update your location at any time from the app

6. Ad Listings and Visibility

When you post an ad on Socioo, you choose who can see it:

Everyone: Your ad is visible to all users in your city.

Society Only: Your ad is only visible to members of your registered society. Other users cannot see it.

All ads are reviewed by our admin team before going live. We may reject ads that violate our guidelines (illegal items, inappropriate content, spam).

Your name and profile photo will be visible to other users on your ad listings and in chat conversations.

7. Chat and Messages

Socioo includes in-app messaging so buyers can contact sellers without sharing phone numbers. Please note:

Messages are stored on our server to enable chat history
Our admin team may review messages if a user reports abuse or suspicious activity
Do not share sensitive personal information (Aadhaar, bank details, OTPs) over chat
We are not responsible for the content of messages between users

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Period.

We may share data only in these limited circumstances:

Within the App: Other users see only your display name, profile photo, and your city/society on your listings — only what is needed for a marketplace to function.

Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (hosting, email) who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by Indian law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

Business Transfer: If Socioo is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this happens.

9. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers hosted in India (WordPress/WooCommerce backend)
We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
Passwords are never stored — we use token-based authentication (JWT)
Access to user data is restricted to authorised team members only
We conduct regular security reviews of our platform

No system is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please contact us at privacy@socioo.in and we will respond promptly.

10. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary:

Active account data — retained while your account is active
Ad listings — retained until you delete them or your account
Chat messages — retained for 12 months, then automatically deleted
Inactive accounts — accounts with no activity for 24 months are automatically deleted

When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal compliance.

11. Your Rights

You have the following rights over your data:

Access: You can view your profile information and all your posted ads at any time in the app.

Correction: You can update your name, location, and profile through the Account section.

Deletion: You can delete individual ads, or request complete account deletion by emailing privacy@socioo.in

Portability: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Withdraw Consent: You can revoke Google Sign-In access and stop using the app at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@socioo.in. We will respond within 15 business days.

12. Children’s Privacy

Socioo is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@socioo.in and we will delete it promptly.

13. Third-Party Links

Socioo may display links to external websites or services (e.g. a seller’s phone number that opens a dialler). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before interacting with them.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app evolves. When we make significant changes:

We will update the ‘Last Updated’ date at the top of this document
We will notify you via a notification inside the app
Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

15. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in Daund, Maharashtra, India.
